Engineering Technician V - Interior Communications Electrical
Scope of Code 275 support to be provided includes Submarine Continuous Operational and Maintenance Assessment (SubCOMA), Post-Deployment Maintainability Assessment (PDMA), Combat Systems Assessment (CSA) and System of Systems Interoperability, Mission Area Assessment (SOSIMAA)/TSRA Assessment, Groton STSC CSA/SOSIMAA Assessment, FTA- Maintenance Support (Ships’ Service Electrical), FTA - Maintenance Support (IC) Electrical, Logistics, and On board TSRA/CSA Logistics.
Location/Place of Performance: MARMC – Naval Station Norfolk – Norfolk, VA 23511 (telework opportunities are a possibility)
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Provide independent engineering/technical assistance, evaluations, assessments, grooms, tests, inspections, operational checks (underway, surfaced, submerged) and training in support of Interior Communications (IC) Electrical systems with zero oversight required.
- Primary focus area is electrical systems to include O2 Generators (AEOG, EOG,ILPE, LPE), Ships Control Panel, Electrical Hydraulic Plant systems (S&D, Ships Service, and External), TD241 Depth Control Systems, Trim and Drain Flow Meter, Ballast Control Panel, Ships Control Panel, Pressure and Temperature Switches, and other electrical auxiliary equipment for 688 Class and VA class submarines.
- Systems to be worked with include All Steering and Diving (S&D) systems, Electrical Hydraulic Plant systems (S&D, Ships Service, and External), TD241 Depth Control Systems, Trim and Drain Flow Meter, Ballast Control Panel, Ships Control Panel, Pressure and Temperature Switches, Diesel Engine Support Systems, Oxygen Generators, Secondary Propulsion Unit, and other electrical auxiliary equipment.
- Independently troubleshoot, restore, and replace faulty or defective components in Interior Communications (IC) Electrical systems and components and related peripheral systems. Includes testing, alignment, and restoration to normal operation.
- Independently conduct fault analysis and the assembly and disassembly of units and subsystems. Independently evaluate, assess, and provide maintenance training to Ship’s Force.
- Provide input for Technical Assistance Visit Reports (TAVRs) IAW the JFMM requirements for each on board tech assist.
- Provide Total Ship Readiness Assessment (TSRA), operational, and maintenance assessment support and over-the-shoulder training to Ship’s Force on HM&E systems, equipment, and related peripheral systems.
- Daily task status must be provided by COB to the Code 275 branch head or waterfront coordinator while performing FTA efforts including overseas CASREP support via email or phone.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain security clearance and clearing necessary background checks/assessments as required. Active high-level Security Clearance will be required, and current Security Clearance is desired.
- Target Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ full-time engineering experience in operation, maintenance, installation, test and/or repair of submarine electrical and/or electronic systems/equipment. Experience in evaluating material condition of ship systems and implementation of corrective action. Minimum of 5 years’ full time technical experience in design, installation, test, and/or repair of electrical systems/equipment.
- Have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of military and civilian personnel.
