Material Receipt Test Inspector
Responsibilities:
- Technical Inspection: Conduct visual, dimensional, and generic material identification inspections on various machined parts and commodities.
- Precision Measurement: Perform setups and inspections on precision surface plates. Utilize a wide array of instruments, including profilometers, digital height gages, calipers, screw pitch gages, optical comparators, and dial indicators.
- Material Verification: Perform generic material verification using acid spot testing, magnets, XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) testing, or LIBBS.
- Specialized Testing: Execute functional checks (such as flexure or spring rate tests) and operate hardness testers, electronic plating thickness gauges, and surface finish analyzers.
- Data Management: Accurately enter inspection results and technical data into government computer programs, specifically the Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program (PDREP).
- Documentation: Document all inspection results and precision testing outcomes in accordance with NAVSEA and shipyard requirements.
- Throughput: Maintain a minimum performance standard of at least 8 completed inspections per month once the initial qualification program is complete.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and PNS-specific radiological indoctrination protocols. Participate in safety investigations as required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in precision measuring, machined parts inspection, precision testing, and documenting technical results.
- At least two (2) years of specific experience inspecting, certifying, and controlling material to the following requirements:
- NAVSEA Material Control Standard.
- System Certification Procedure and Criteria Manual for Deep Submergence Systems.
- Requirements Manual for Submarine Fly-By-Wire Ship Control Systems.
- Certifications & Technical Knowledge:
- Level 1 (L1) Certification: Proven experience, training and qualifications in L1 certifications for:
- Marrota and Vacco reducing manifolds,
- Fasteners to System 21 and 22 gaging requirements,
- Welding commodities and mill products.
- Marking Methods: Proficiency in MIL-STD-792 marking methods.
- Material Identification using acid spot testing, XRF or LIBBS
- Level 1 (L1) Certification: Proven experience, training and qualifications in L1 certifications for:
- Safety: Must be trained and certified in OSHA safety regulations.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with a Final DoD Confidential Security Clearance or higher.
- Onboarding Proficiency: Must successfully pass PNS-provided "Familiarization Briefings" and "Learning Center Proficiency Checks" (written and hands-on) within the first two weeks of arrival. Candidates are allowed a maximum of two attempts to pass.
