ASR International Corp. has an opportunity for a Supervisory Material Receipt Inspector position supporting Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNS) Receipt Inspection Services within the Quality Assurance (QA) Department. Receipt Inspection provides assurance that the materials procured for use on Naval Nuclear Submarines meets the required and specified requirements before being issued.Location: Portsmouth Naval Shipyard – Kittery (Seavey Island), ME 03904Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Supervisory Material Receipt Inspectors should be capable of performing the following technical trade tasks:
- Visual, dimensional, and generic material identification inspections.
- Setup and inspections on precision surface plates.
- Functional checks (flexure or spring rate tests).
- Generic material verification using acid spot, magnet, or XRF testing.
- Operation of hardness testers, electronic plating thickness gauges, and surface finish analyzers.
- Data entry into computer programs, such as Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program (PDREP).
- Supervisory tasks/responsibilities include the following:
- Provide adequate supervision to oversee the assigned personnel and ensure the proper execution of the assigned tasks.
- Have the ability to be reached throughout the day to ensure maximum oversight on contractor personnel. Supervisors will identify a backup contact if they are to be unavailable during the workday.
- Serve as the liaison between contractor personnel and PNS Supervisors. Ensure contractor personnel are qualified to perform the assigned work, and are performing work in accordance with requirements.
- Assist in managing worker assignments to ships, shifts of work, discipline, safety, attendance, and work performance. Select and manage overtime assignments as needed.
- Resolve contractor personnel problems (conflict resolution, tardiness or administrative actions) related to the contractor’s employees.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience/Requirements:
- Must possess at least 2 years of experience in the following areas:
- Precision measuring
- Machine parts inspection
- Precision testing
- Precision measurement and inspection techniques utilizing precision measurement instruments such as profilometers, digital height gages, calipers, screw pitch gages, variable thread pitch gages, optical comparator, hardness tester, precision gage blocks, plug gages, and dial indicators.
- Trained and certified in OSHA safety regulations.
- Documenting results from inspections and precision testing.
- Must be qualified in local procedures, precision measuring, metal identification inspections, and hardness testing, with documented certification records.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess and maintain a “Confidential” level security clearance (or higher) throughout the contract.
