Fire Alarm Technician

Position Overview:
ASR International Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Technician with a minimum of 10 years of experience to join our team for a contracting position at Pensacola Naval Air Station. The ideal candidate will be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a security clearance. This role involves the inspection of construction contractor’s installation, maintenance, and repair of new and existing fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational readiness.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Inspection and  oversite of installation of new and existing fire alarm systems, including control panels, detectors, and notification devices, in accordance with NFPA codes and military specifications.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on fire alarm systems to ensure functionality and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex fire alarm system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to safety standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to execute installations and repairs accurately.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and naval personnel to coordinate system upgrades and modifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and perform rapid diagnostics and repairs to restore system functionality.
  • Ensure all work complies with federal, state, and local fire codes, as well as Department of Defense regulations.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians or staff on fire alarm system operations and safety protocols.
  • Adhere to strict security protocols and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information on the naval base.
Qualifications:
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience as a Fire Alarm Technician, with expertise in installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial or industrial fire alarm systems.
  • Certifications: NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred; valid state electrician or fire alarm technician license where applicable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in programming and troubleshooting fire alarm systems (e.g., Notifier, Simplex, or equivalent). Familiarity with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, and familiarity with Department of Defense fire protection standards.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to pass a background check and obtain a Secret or Tier-3 security clearance.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift to 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform tasks in confined spaces or adverse conditions.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with team members and documenting work.
  • Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, and respond to emergency calls as needed.
