Technical Proposal Writer
Location: ASR HQ – Hauppauge, NY 11788 or Remote Location (considered on a case-by-case basis)
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Proposal Development: Develop and at times lead the writing of proposals in response to government/commercial solicitations. Written content may include responses to technical approaches, schedules and timelines, management and staffing plans, quality control measures, past experience, and other relevant information related to the specific technical requirement and associated scope of work specifications.
- Coordinates proposal development efforts through the assigned proposal manager, with direct client interaction as required.
- Conducts in-depth research on RFP technical/functional areas.
- Reads, reviews, and thoroughly analyzes Requests for Proposals (RFPs) in accordance with outlined Proposal Management processes and procedures.
- Coordinates and takes leadership over the RFP and RFI process, including proofreading of all materials and submission documents prior to final response.
- Actively searches for new RFP/RFI opportunities to support existing business lines and potential areas of new opportunity.
- Writes clear, technically accurate, and persuasive proposal sections for competitive proposals. Assignments may range from producing discrete subsections and gathering subject matter content, to writing and leading entire proposal volumes.
- Collaborates with other subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information needed to obtain the necessary technical domain knowledge to clearly articulate a winning strategy, compelling solutions, and substantiated themes and courses of action.
- Researches and combines information from multiple sources into a cohesive, easily readable, and persuasive final proposal product for customer submission and review.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience/Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or other Technical field (M.S., M.B.A)
- Federal government and DoD contracting experience strongly desired.
- 5+ years of experience and industry knowledge in 1 or more of the following technical areas: Engineering, Technical Support Services, Integrated Logistics, Construction Management, and Information Technology.
- Firm grasp and command of the English language from both a written and verbal perspective, with strong technical writing capabilities.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, evolving environment, while maintaining a sense of urgency without loss of efficiency/technical accuracy.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, work as a collaborative and communicative member of a diverse team, and follow-through on assigned tasks within provided timeframes.
- Proficiency and firm understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) and Adobe Acrobat software and systems.
