HVAC Engineering Technician

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver on-site technical and administrative support to the Civil Engineer, Engineering Flight (CEN), and Operations Flight (CEO) for FSRM project planning, programming, design, execution, and close-out.
- Assist with preparation of plans, specifications, drawings, programming documents (e.g., DD 1391s), cost estimates, SOWs/PWSs, Bullet Background Papers (BBPs), briefings, memos, and technical correspondence.
- Perform project tracking, maintain databases and project notebooks/files, organize documentation, and conduct technical/deliverable reviews for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide HVAC-specific expertise: equipment troubleshooting, diagnostics, evaluation, and support for minor repairs, building automation/controls, and material requisitioning while ensuring compliance with building codes and standards.
- Support QA/QC oversight of Architect-Engineer (AE) designs, data analysis, technical research/recommendations, and identification of program/project data gaps.
- Participate in technical interchange meetings, planning/programming/execution forums, and liaison activities with USACE, MAJCOM, and other organizations.
- Assist with conference/meeting support, statutory and regulatory compliance (federal, state, local, Air Force), and continuity of operations during personnel transitions.
- Contribute to monthly Project Status Reports (PSRs) and ensure all work meets PWS performance thresholds for quality, schedule, customer service, and management.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of thoroughly documented and relevant work experience as an Engineering Technician (or equivalent) in construction, project support, or facilities engineering.
- Extensive, hands-on background in HVAC systems, including Building Code requirements, equipment troubleshooting, diagnostics, and evaluation.
- Ability to plan, organize, and lead others in studies, designs, and construction projects; record and manage processes/documentation; and negotiate effectively with management on proposals involving substantial resources or changes.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to negotiate complex issues and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with databases/project tracking tools.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle while navigating Dyess AFB (paved and gravel roads).
- U.S. Citizenship required. Must consent to and successfully complete LEADS background check, obtain DoD Confidential clearance and CAC, and have legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting Air Force or DoD civil engineering operations, FSRM, MILCON, or UMMC projects.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (IBC, NEC, NFPA, UFC, etc.).
- Experience with AutoCAD, GIS, or cost estimating tools (a plus).
Position Details
3 years Full-time on-site only. Normal duty hours 0730–1630; Multiple positions available. Must consent to LEADS background check. This position is contingent upon contract award and funding.Compensation & Benefits
